Michael & Dewi
"Thank you to IndonesianCupid for making this all possible"
The Angel of my Dreams.
Today I have returned home from a holiday in Bali with the Angel of my dreams.
Dewi responded to my IndonesianCupid profile just a few weeks ago, and I immediately knew she was someone I would get on well with. Her profile was very sincere. We had a lot of email exchanges, a few internet chats and eventually some telephone conversations. All the time learning more about each other.
The more I got to know her, the more I wanted to know her more.
We had some language difficulties, but not many. We had some problems with the technology (chat sessions just stopping for no apparent reason, and not being able to reconnect) and of course there are the inevitable problems when talking to someone from another culture when we don’t understand their viewpoint or their cultural ways.
We persisted. Love triumphed. It became the highlight of my day to check my inbox for a message from Dewi. I would get up early before work to see if she had left me a message. Straight after work I would do the same ... had she left me a message during the day? I would open my computer with excitement!
“You have to walk carefully in the beginning of love: the running across fields into your lovers arms can only come later when you’re sure they won’t laugh if you trip.” Our trust and understanding built up quite quickly and I knew she would never be the one to laugh AT me, only WITH me.
We reached a point in our conversations where I was not sure what to do next. She was such a long way away from me, but to really know if this indeed was the person I had been waiting all my life to be with there seemed to be no choice - we had to meet! Dewi was initially surprised when I suggested this because it seemed so soon. But I knew I had to come to Indonesia.
What else could I do? There were already several nice contacts that I had formed a sort of “pen pal” type of friendship with. There is a limit to how much time one has to spend every evening emailing or chatting to each contact. I was serious about matching myself up to someone, and did not want to appear as some sort of “web-based playboy”. I’m sure there are plenty of people doing that. I was on this site to find a good match to become a friend (at first) and to become my permanent partner, my lover, and my wife. Dewi seemed perfect for me.
We decided to meet in Bali and arranged air travel and accommodation to this end, and then on November 11th, we met at Denpasar airport. We spent the week together doing all sorts of activities ... sight seeing, shopping, walking on golden sands at sunset, motorcycling, jet skiing, para sailing, dining out, sharing laughter, and of course, lots more talking. Lots more getting to know each other. Love was blossoming.
The week has confirmed our feelings of attraction to each other and with so much in common we have decided to spend our lives together. We are about to put an application in to enable Dewi to live with me in Australia, and as soon as that is done we will start to plan our wedding.
I returned to Australia this morning, a little sad at having to leave her (after the most beautiful week of my life!), but with a sense of excitement about our future together. I would like to say thank you to all those people on IndonesianCupid who looked at my profile and contacted me. I am sorry there has not been time in my day to talk to all of you, but at the end of the day there is room in my life for only one. I have found the love of my life with Dewi. I wish you all well in your searching for your perfect match too.
And thank you to IndonesianCupid for making this all possible.
