My favorite movies are rather unusual. I love two very old old movies, "Trouble in Paradise", and "The Big Sleep". I also really enjoyed "Big" and "L.A. Story". I found the Indonesian movie, "Eliana, Eliana" very interesting. I loved the German "Beyond Silence" and the English "About a Boy". And I adore the old classics "Roman Holiday" and "Vertigo."
I love many writers but know best American, English, and French ones. I am very fond of Raymond Chandler's books ("The Long Goodbye"), F. Scott Fitzgerald's "The Great Gatsby", Dickens and Kingsley Amis, and the French master, Gustave Flaubert (Madame Bovary).
I eat all foods of the world but generally do not eat meat other than fish or seafood and I do not know Indian food. I love Vietnamese, seafood, French, Middle Eastern, Latin American, and the best of our regional cooking (which is not well known outside of America, especially some of the smaller towns and cities, like New Orleans).
I don't know a lot of very new music, but I enjoy world music; vocals -- classical, modern, and stage; nearly all African-American music except most rap and new R&B: jazz; old R&B; soul, blues, spiritual.
Classic and simple with the best material.
Dry, sometimes ironic and a bit unusual, sometimes quite unsophisticated, easy to laugh, not sarcastic, sometimes childish.
Music, athletics, language, current events and reading, cooking and cuisine, gardening and fruit raising, very interested in learning to dance better.
I have traveled widely. I grew up somewhat poor by American and decided that if I was going to visit the world, I would have to figure out how without much money. So, I studied and worked overseas. Through that and my later jobs I got a chance to see most of Europe; North and East Africa; Japan, China, and Indonesia; and many of the world's islands, oceans, and seas.
I have met romantically women from France, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, China, the Czech Republic, but in the past visa, family, and work complications got in the way. Those impediments are behind me now, so I am far more free than ever in my life to have a partner from a different culture from my own. I welcome it.
Finding a simple beach resort somewhere with perfect weather where we could sleep, fish, swim, dance, and eat together.
Or, an alternate, would be a trip to Paris where I could show a beautiful woman the town and try to impress her with my French.
Directed but modest and not aggressive; polite and old-fashioned in many ways; intelligent and respectful; very turned off by rudeness; very considerate; curious and a bit difficult-to-categorize.
I think I have described this before, but basically a slim beautiful woman with a good mind and great heart who has integrity and a sense of humor, curiosity, and energy.
